Silent Spring Institute
Silent Spring Institute is a scientific research organization dedicated to finding- and breaking- the links between enviormental chemicals and breast cancer. Our goal is prevention.
Silent Spring was founded in 1994 to respond to high breast cancer rates on Cape Cod. The Institute's Cape Cod Breast Cancer and Enviorment Study showed that the high incidence is not due to an older population, in-migration, or known breast cancer risk factors, strenghtening the possibility that enviormental exposures play a role. The Cape Cod Study continues groung breaking investigations of everyday chemical exposures that may contribute to breast cancer, other hormonal cancers, and infertility, and interfere with children's development. In our recent research, we found pharmaceutical and consumer product chemicals leaching from septic systems into Cape Cod drinking water. With your help, we will find better ways to protect the Cape's valuable water resources and promote a healthy future. Learn more: www.silentspring.org
